Songbird – Open Source Music Player

My Last blog post was about Flock well there is another bad @ss project powered by mozilla called Songbird – Open Source Music Player. What is Songbird exactly well it’s as the name may suggest it’s a music player but not like any other Music player it’s built around a web browser why would you do that well i’ll list some of the features

Smart Playlists
Create dynamic playlists that automatically update based on criteria you set.

Concert Tickets
Discover upcoming shows in your area based on the artists in your library. Event listings powered by Songkick.

Last.fm Scrobbling
Integrated Last.fm support that allows you to scrobble, love, and ban your tracks.

Album Artwork
Display the currently playing track’s album art and write new artwork back to the file.

Shoutcast Radio
SHOUTcast RadioStream music using the integrated SHOUTcast Radio directory.

Customize with Add-ons
Enhance with the use of Theme Add-ons and feature plugins just like Firefox

Songbirds misson statment is:
Songbird promises to be the Firefox of media players

sound like a lot to look up too but this is a very awsome crossplatform media player.
worth looking into & watching what happens to it but so far it’s great & very fun to use as a web browser that plays some of your own killer tunes & introduces you to new ones over the big network..

I’ve been using this really neat feature packed browser called Flock lately Flock is a Mozilla based browser with just about everything you would need jammed into one place. You can log into many online services including Facebook, Gmail, Digg, Flickr, WordPress & many others you can get a complete list of services here.  Some of the most interesting features that I use are the photo uploader & in browser blog poster. this browser is so feature packed it’s insane, it’s also expandable by extentions just like other Mozilla browsers, But it really has just about everything you would possibly need.
